The 05 Bedroom Family villa in Mallorca is just a 15-minute drive outside Alcudia, the region’s oldest town. Alcudia is fully pedestrianised, so it’s perfect for exploring on foot. Here you’ll find a plethora of small, inviting restaurants offering fresh, local fare and a street market every Tuesday and Sunday. You’ll be able to pick up some local goods to enjoy, including some particularly good sobrasada (a delicious raw, cured sausage made with ground pork, paprika, salt and other spices).But it’s not just Alcudia’s picturesque streets, fine dining opportunities and historical sites that have visitors returning again and again. The beach here is particularly beautiful, featuring 7km of curved white sands shelving into the glittering blue of the med. This little piece of Mallorcan paradise is lined with palm trees and thatched beach huts, restaurants and cafes – making it a firm family favourite for finding a sandy spot and staying all day. The bay’s shallow waters make this beach an excellent choice for those travelling with children, and for the adrenaline junkies among you, there are a variety of watersports on offer, such as canoeing and parasailing, as well as the opportunity for scuba diving!

Another popular destination equidistant from the villa is the ancient town of Pollensa, which has a great choice of shops and supermarkets for stocking up on groceries, as well as bakeries and restaurants for treating yourself when enjoying a day out.There’s plenty to see and do in the town, with particular highlights including the Roman bridge over the Sant Jordi river, museums and art galleries, and the Calvari steps. The town is small and easy to explore on foot, but be aware that it can be a steep and uneven walk, so suitable footwear is a must! The sands can get busy, but the atmosphere here is laid back, and plenty of sun loungers and deck chairs are available to relax and enjoy the view. The waters here are shallow and calm – perfect for little paddlers! There are plenty of cafes and kiosks along the beach, so you won’t have problems finding somewhere to grab snacks and refreshments. If you like your beaches a little quieter, you could head further to Alcanada beach. The mainly pebble beach doesn’t attract as many visitors but is equally beautiful. The kids will enjoy spending the day here looking for shells and skimming the pretty pebbles across the water while you relax, looking out to the lighthouse on a small island just off the shore.

A trip to Alcudia’s Hidropark is a must if you are holidaying with children. One of Mallorca’s smaller and quieter water parks, Hidropark is popular with families who are holidaying with children of all ages and features water slides, a splash area and a wave pool, mini golf, inflatable castles, floating balls and trampolines.

Eating out in the area with the kids couldn’t be simpler, with both Alcudia and Pollensa offering a vast variety of cafes, bistros and eateries ranging from trendy, modern tapas bars to traditional restaurants all serving fresh Mediterranean fare. Adventurous little eaters will be spoilt for choice with such delicacies as paella with snails, prawn risotto and slow-cooked suckling pig on offer. Still, there is something on offer for all palates, from fresh homemade bread and olive oil to pizza, pasta and steaks.
