This monumental fortress was first built in the 16th century by the acclaimed Charles V. Its original purpose was to protect the local population from vicious pirate attacks. Nowadays, Dalt Vila is regarded as a historical icon and is even classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. THE REGION
