From the top of the walls, you can enjoy wonderful panoramic views of the Bay of Pollensa. Alcudia Old Town hosts many cultural events, including traditional fiestas and classical music festivals. Alcudia Old Town boasts an incredible history. The Romans brought an end to piracy and built the town, but later, Alcudia was destroyed in the 6th century. The town returned to greatness under the Moors. The Old Town’s narrow streets, especially Carrer d’en Serra, are resonant with its Arab past. The walls you see today were added in the early 14th century under the rule of King Jaume II. You shouldn’t miss the fabulous Neo-Gothic Sant Jaume Church and the fantastic Sa Bassa Blanca Museum, home to amazing contemporary art and stunning gardens. Alcudia’s Roman ruins and museum, just outside the walls, are very interesting.

The Luxury Holiday villa is a magical property ideal for bringing the generations together or spending time with friends with children. There are six bedrooms so there is plenty of space. The villa boasts indoor and outdoor pools, a games room with a pool table, a spa, excellent living spaces, a television room, and wonderful gardens.
The two beaches of Bonaire are delightful, as are the marina and the lovely bars and cafes. With 30km of coast, the Alcudia area enjoys numerous coves and beaches as well as a set of small islands and islets. The beaches include Alcanada, Cala Poncet, Can Cap de Bou, Coll Baix, Es Barcares, Es Farallo, Playa de Alcudia, Sa Marina, Sant Joan, Sant Pere and S’Illot. It is an excellent place for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, kayaking, parasailing, banana boat rides, pedal boats with slides, inflatable rides and scuba diving, and hiking, running or cycling. The seven-kilometre-long Port d’Alcudia Beach is amazing for children. Watersports Mallorca is based just east of the Old Town at Playa de Muro, where children can learn to kitesurf or windsurf and hire other equipment. Not far away, a gorgeous tranquil beach is Cala Sant Vicenc. It is an enchanting natural cove lying 4km off the road between Pollensa town and the port. There is a sense of seclusion you will not find at the busier tourist resorts. In the lovely azure shallow waters of Puerto Pollensa, you can take your pick of amazing boat rides, from glass-bottom boats to catamarans and speed boats. Dolphin watching is on offer in addition to snorkelling trips and diving lessons. Puerto Pollensa’s floating water park is very popular. Children are given life jackets and swim to the park or use the rope connecting it to the beach. It is challenging and great fun.
The Hotel Bellevue Complex at Puerto Alcudia offers a thrilling go-karting playground called Kartingmania which is open to all visitors. There is a special track for four to seven-year-olds, and children over seven can drive on the main track in customised, gasoline-powered karts.
In the summer, a unique cultural event occurs in Alcudia Old Town, the Via Fora. It is a tour that tells the story of various historical events in the city, performed by actors and musicians that will make you travel back in time. It is interesting and fun for children as the show includes interaction with the audience.
There are three waterparks on Mallorca, including the nearby Hidropark in Alcudia. Set in lush landscaped gardens, it boasts thrilling kamikaze slides, a wave pool, swimming, gentle slides for very young children and water playgrounds in its 40,000 metres. There are also inflatable castles, trampolines, giant floating balls and a golf course.
A popular outing for families is to visit some of Mallorca’s interesting caves. Coves d’Arta’s guided tour takes you through various chambers to the ‘Queen of Pillars’, a huge stalagmite twenty-two metres tall. Coves de Drach, which means Caves of the Dragon, is the most famous cave. It has four caves where musicians play classical music from the boats on the underground lake. In the direction of Palma, you will discover the traditional village of Campanet, where The Ses Coves de Campanet are a lovely sight. Children love caves, and there is a wonderful natural ambience on the small hillside with glorious views over the surrounding countryside.
